Behind the harsh promise of "if you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere", New York City is a place with a very wide range of services, programs and communities. Though sometimes they are inaccessible or not talked about. Making digital services work for everyone, starting from folks who struggle with their very non-digital lives, is a step towards changing the refrain to "if you can't make it here, NYC will give you a hand".

This was the spirit with which in 2022 I joined the MyCity project as UX/UI Design Lead at the New York City Office of Technology & Innovation. Alongside a in-house team of extremely talented people with backgrounds rooted in tech and - perhaps above all - community organizing, I researched and designed the alpha version of the portal mycity.nyc.gov that would have launched a year later.
